VILLA RICA, Ga. -- Lynn H. Bates Sr., 62, formerly of Fort Worth, passed away Monday, Dec. 20, 2004.

Funeral: Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Martin & Hightower Funeral Home in Carrollton, Ga. Following the visitation, the body will be cremated in accordance with the family's wishes.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the American Kidney Fund, 6110 Executive Blvd., Ste. 1010, Rockville, Md. 20852.

Lynn H. Bates Sr. was born May 13, 1942, in Leesburg, Fla., to Jewel White Bates and the late Luther Bates. He was an Army veteran, stationed in Germany and worked as a product manager with Sprint Communications. He was an avid golfer, a member of the Fairfield Country Club and the men's golf association at Fairfield. When his son was a child, he coached football and baseball. Later, he enjoyed his grandchildren, especially taking them for rides in his Gator golf cart. Prior to moving to Carrollton, while still in Fort Worth,he was a member of the Miller Golf Association.

Survivors: Wife, Rebecca A. Bates; mother, Jewell White Bates of Leesburg, Fla.; daughters and sons-in-law, Michelle and Mike Lockaby of Fort Worth, and Kelly Bates and Kimberly Bates of Villa Rica; son and daughter-in-law, Lynn H. Jr. and Julie Bates of Fort Worth; sister, Judy and David Nobels of Leesburg, Fla.; brother, Jimmy and Iris Bates of Leesburg; and grandchildren, Erin, Michael and Garrett Lockaby, and Ryan Daniel Bates.
